My vision for this blog

I’m not a nutritionist or dietitian or even in the nursing or diet industry. I simply want to help families find better food choices that won’t break the bank.

As a single mother with two growing children (and often two jobs), the two most difficult tasks were to buy enough food and take the time to cook healthy food.

Seriously, pasta tossed with butter and parmesan cheese was big-time gourmet after a week of pizza, Hamburger Helper Cheesy Macaroni, and Ramen noodles.

My kids are now grown and on their own; thankfully they seem to make better food choices than I can take credit for…until now!

Now I hassle them often about healthy food choices until they threaten to de-friend me on Facebook. Oh, the tricky emotional communication between mother and grown children…but that’s an entirely different blog topic!

I envision this blog to alert Central Virginians to good food deals at local businesses, information about health and nutrition, share ideas and recipes, and support one another with healthy goals.

Let’s go!

About Rachel

I'm a crocheting bookworm who happens to also be a coffee snob. One of many passions is to learn ways to make healthy food choices without breaking the grocery budget and sharing them with Central Virginia readers.
